Day 22

Read Hebrews 10:24-25

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.."

“Spur one another on” doesn’t mean kick someone with your boot; it means encourage each other. Encourage, smile, fill with courage, speak blessings, trust in Christ, lift them up when they’re down, hold their hand withoutjudging when they’re grieving, listen to their troubles with compassion and offer a ray of hope, bring a meal and a song to a shut-in, buy groceries for someone who can’t get out, give a bag of toiletries to that homeless person with the sign on the corner, and do it without judgment or “they did it to themselves” – that’s “spurring one another on toward love and good deeds.” The old campfire song went, “It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon all those around will be warmed up in its glowing. That’s how it is with God’s love …. You want to pass it on.” So pass it on!

What practical ways can you demonstrate God’s grace, compassion and love to someone who needs a boost, not a boot?

Ask God, and start listing ways He tells you to encourage someone else.
