Day 22

Read Hebrews 10:24-25

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.."

“Spur one another on” doesn’t mean kick someone with your boot; it means encourage each other. Encourage, smile, fill with courage, speak blessings, trust in Christ, lift them up when they’re down, hold their hand withoutjudging when they’re grieving, listen to their troubles with compassion and offer a ray of hope, bring a meal and a song to a shut-in, buy groceries for someone who can’t get out, give a bag of toiletries to that homeless person with the sign on the corner, and do it without judgment or “they did it to themselves” – that’s “spurring one another on toward love and good deeds.” The old campfire song went, “It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon all those around will be warmed up in its glowing. That’s how it is with God’s love …. You want to pass it on.” So pass it on!

What practical ways can you demonstrate God’s grace, compassion and love to someone who needs a boost, not a boot?

Ask God, and start listing ways He tells you to encourage someone else.

Day 16

Read Luke 8: 19-21

Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. And he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.” But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

“My mother and brothers (family) are those who hear God’s word and do it. (put it into practice).” God’s Word IS Truth, and for sure, it doesn’t always fit with what our culture tells us we should do and who we are. I’ve lived the truth that if I’m living as a child in the Family of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and Holy Spirit, I’ll run into criticism and ridicule for my stand for my relatives and the truth of their words and rightness of their deeds and attitudes. But I’d rather belong to Jesus, live my life for Him and spend eternity with Him, than cave to the lies and twisting of the enemy of my soul and eternal destiny. My DNA is now God’s kinship with me, and WOW, I’d rather be kin to Jesus than belong to sin, and run to His welcoming embrace and happy smile today and always.

What is/was your earthly family like? Do you truly want to belong in and live here as part of God’s family?

Tell God your desire and longing, let Jesus purify your desires and will, and look into His smiling eyes. How does that feel?
