Day 1

Read I John 3:1

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Sometimes parents spoil their children. They may give them more than they even asked for at Christmas or a birthday. Some children though don’t even have parents. They are called orphans, and orphans typically spend much of their time trying to survive. This passage in I John 3:1 says that God calls those that trust him as “children of God.” It also says that he lavishes his love on us. God “spoils” us in a good way with his love.  It is difficult sometimes to imagine God loving us like that. I am a loved and accepted child of the Father. And there is not one thing I have to do today to earn that love.

Based upon this understanding of God’s love for you, what should be your response?

Take a moment and thank God for His love without conditions.

Day 42

JOHN 17:20
“I DO NOT ASK ON BEHALF OF THESE ALONE, BUT FOR THOSE ALSO WHO BELIEVE IN ME THROUGH THEIR WORD.” –

Prayer saturated the life of Jesus. In this, His high-priestly prayer, one of the groups He prays for is you and me. No, you did not misread that last sentence. Jesus is praying for you (Hebrews 7:25)! Therefore, one of the greatest things you can ever tell another person are these words: “I am praying for you.” Joining with Christ, we can have significant, spiritual influence over others by simply praying for them. You might be saying, “No way.”  God in His sovereignty has chosen to limit His activity to the prayers of His people.” He has chosen to work this way. Will you join Him?

As you think about your circle of influence, who are you praying for on a consistent basis?
