Day 11

Read Titus 1:2

This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began.

We’ve all experienced broken promises in our relationships and these experiences tend to sow seeds of distrust and cynicism. It is these kinds of earthly relationships that make it hard for us to trust God and follow Him on a daily basis through the good and bad times. Can we really trust Him? Paul comforts and reminds Titus, and us, in this verse that God’s promises always come to fruition; specifically His promise of eternal life to those who follow and trust Him. God’s promises have been true from “before the ages began” and His faithfulness will continue for all generations. As your trust in Him builds, you will follow Him without hesitation and He will lead you to the living water and abundant life that will sustain you through all circumstances

Ask God to teach you to trust Him and show you His faithfulness.

Day 10

Day 10

1 John 2-3-5

“And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,  but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:

What does it mean to be a Jesus follower?  At the heart of it, it is really just the life of Jesus, pressed out in our lives. It can also be said, “the life of Jesus lived out through us.”  How does that look?  It looks like obedience.  You see, many people complicate what it looks like to be a Jesus follower.  We want to define it as how much we do for Jesus (i.e. how much I attend church, how much I give, or how often I serve).  But, at its core, a Jesus follower is someone who obeys Jesus.  This requires knowing Him to know what He wants us to do.  Reading and knowing His word is a great start, and one of the first and best ways to know Him.  Prayer is another.  Another way is spending time with other believers.  All of these ways allow us to know Jesus more intimately, and when we know Him, He reveals His will in our lives.  This is part of the love relationship that Jesus gives to us, and what we ought to give back to him.
